Synopsis:

Larry Daley is a down-and-out person. He dreams of being an inventor but turns out to be a very sore inventor when his inventions never really quite make it. Larry is divorced and he & his ex-wife are sharing a joint custody over their son, Nick. It made things worse for Larry as his son express disappointment over him not getting a decent job for a living. Too add things up, he has to move houses as he is not able to pay his rent.

He is in dire need of a job and tries his luck at a recruitment agency. Not being able to offer him any good job, he was offered a job at the Museum of Natural History. Thinking at it was a good job; he decided to try it out. Unfortunately, it was not as what he expected. He reluctantly accepts the job as a night watchman at the Museum of Natural History because he was left with no choice. The Museum itself has been depleting in the numbers of visitors.

Unbeknownst to him, the Museum had something special installed for him. Something that the previous 2 watchman; Cecil, Gus and Reginald have been keeping secret for a long time. Little did he know that things started to go bump in the night and the museum seems to be alive at night? Everything in the museum is alive at night and walks freely in the museum.

They are kept alive by the amulet of Ahkmenrah that cursed the museum when it was bought to the Museum in the 50's. A full size bone scturcture of T-Rex, Pre-historic humans, Columbus's statue, Atilla the Hun, a vile and vicious leader, miniature size cowboy and Roman conquerer, Afican wildlife and a lot more. Enough to keep Larry busy at night. His job was to ensure that all of them stay in the museum. The only ally that he has was a wax figure of Teddy Rosevelt that guided him throughout the night. (FYI, Teddy Rosevelt was the 28th President of the U.S. of A! Got this from the movie)

His colleague, Rebecca, who is pursuing her studies in History decided to write a paper on one of the display in the museum, Sakagawea who was responsible to help someone. What? I can't recall because American History isn't my thing. So, I forgot who did this babe helped out. Anyway, When Larry broke the news to her and told her she can meet Sakagawea in person, she got upset thinking that Larry is making fun of her.

Watch how a seemingly easy job turns out to be a wild ride when he finds that an ancient curse has caused the "inhabitants" of the museum to come to life. Did he manage to impress his son and show Rebecca that he is speaking the truth? You have to watch the movie yourself if you want to find out because I've gave too many spoilers.

Aku Kata :

I am a little bit biased when it comes to Robin William. He's one of my favorite actors of all time and whatever movies he is in, I'll say that he did a good job even though you do not agree with me. So, if you've watched the movie and tell me that Robin William was a flop as Teddy Rosevelt, it doesn't bother me at all. Hehehe…

Anyway, even though Ben Stiller is the main cast in the movie, but I don't think that he is that appealing. After went missing for almost 2 years from the silven screen, I don't think the impact he brought in this movie is that effective. Yes, Ben Stiller is still funny doing his stuff but I think that this movie's strength relies more on the supporting cast of the movie. Take Jedediah and Octavius for example, At some point Owen Wilson as Jedediah and Steve Coogan as Octavius nearly stole the show from Ben Stiller.

It's a fun movie to watch. The special effect from this movie was something that nice. Just nice and nothing that bogus. In fact, some of the scenes reminded me of Jumanji. Especially those mammoths, rhinos and animals from the African wildlife. However Jumani and Night at the Museum is in no way related to each other. Well, that is as far as I am concerned because Shawn Levy did not direct Jumanji. (Tell me if I am wrong!)

On another note, the movie it's not just fun, in fact it's educational. At least we'll learn a thing or two about anthropology, paleontology and American History. This movie serves as an educational trip for the young and makes a fun history lesson.

My last question, how many of us really go to the Museum?

Lemme be frank with you, I have NEVER BEEN to MUZIUM NEGARA in all my life. Sheesh! How pathethic of me!

Aku kasi : *** ½ / *****
